He received his B.Sc. Honours in Political Science, M.Sc in International Relations and Ph.D. in International Relations (Nuclear Politics, Diplomacy and Strategic Studies) all from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was the best graduating student in the Department of Political Science, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, for the 1995/1996 academic session. He has carried out several research, including the Nigerian Foreign Policy in the New World Order, Democracy and Democratization Process in Nigeria (1999-2003), the Politics of Privatization of Public Enterprises in Nigeria (A study of the African Petrol Plc), Law of Armed Conflicts in Africa: A Study of the Liberian Civil War, to mention but a few.
